IAW my reference, the entire block of serial numbers 820000 to 845000 was devoted to RZM. Now I'm the first to admit that I'm not a Walther expert, we do have a regular, Danny who is very well versed on these animals, however, the gun looks authentic. SN 806271 is a PPK with RZM markings. This pistol shows a bright excellent bore, the correct high polish blued finish and the 90 degree safety. There was a serial number range from 800, I believe. This was a large contract put into Walther by the RZM to supply service pistols to Political leaders. There were later RZMs but IMO it's best to stay in the above serial number range because some with other serial numbers may have been put togethers. In the 1960s, Walther produced the PPK-L, which was a light-weight variant of the PPK. The PPK-L differed from the standard, all steel PPK in that it had an aluminium alloy frame. These were only chambered in 7.65mm Browning (.32 ACP) and.22 LR because of the increase in felt recoil from the lighter weight of the gun.

The Walther PPK (Polizei Pistole Kriminal) was produced since 1930. It was developed for a hidden carriage. The engineers from Walther reduced the length, width and weight. The main difference to the PP is the frame with no back strap. this function was integrated in a single molded Grip. Also the grip was shortened, so the clip has only a capacity of 7 rounds. The shortness was balanced with a magazine-shoe on the bottom.

The PPK and the PP were also produced very successfully after war. Even James Bond had an Walther PPK.
